4 Ways To Live An Amazing Life

Life is made up of a collection of questions and we love seeking the answers. People are longing for an amazing life, but what do we get other than repetitive existences. We go to work five days a week, having pressure due to work deadlines, getting exhausted at the end of the day, and falling in love with another drained soul in between.

We love to contemplate every once in a while. The city was ready to embrace the night at that moment as I was stuck in an endless traffic light. Some random thoughts came across my mind: which part of my life that I should have done differently? What mistake that I possibly have made?

However, this question mark leads me to the very first way to experience an amazing life: live in the present.

Be present

Past stays in the past, which includes your regrets and sorrows. You might have made some mistakes throughout your life, but, who hasn’t? 

It is not the only distraction in our modern world today. Distraction might arise from external entities, like social media. They give us memories from the past and anxiety from the future. Social media and technologies exist everywhere, they even demand our constant attention.

Give yourself a break and relax. You need to train your mind to be in the present moment. Change can only be made in the present, not yesterday or tomorrow.

Life is short and we can never recover time. Distraction makes you waste your precious present time. Staying in the present and learning from the past guide me to the second lesson.

Forgiveness.

Making peace is often easier said than done. After all, learn to forgive yourself and others. Pain is inevitable, but you can manage to handle your feelings. All of us are imperfect humans who make mistakes here and there.

However, it is okay to feel disappointed. Give yourself some time to accept the feelings and welcome them. Later on, embrace it. Set yourself free. A mistake is a learning experience that teaches you to move forwards.

Don’t get stressed over something you cannot control, including others’ opinions. Therefore, we find ourselves the third key to happiness.

Do what you love.

Do what you love

Write a silly blog, take a stunning sunrise picture, sing along with an unknown singer, and read an unpopular book. Don’t let others’ opinions dictate what you love. Being compassionate is cool, don’t feel guilty to do what you love.

Live like a child. They just laugh and don’t bother what people say. When you do what you love, you will feel more fulfilled and be more productive. Besides the money, you should consider your emotional health.

But, before getting to that point, you need to listen to yourself first. What do you like the most? What is your childhood dream?

And now we are going to the last lesson.

It’s about listening.

When was the last time you really listened to someone without thinking about jumping in to offer your thought?

We live in such a noisy world. We love to talk because we want to be heard. You need to stop it and listen more. Listen with the intent to understand, not the intent to reply. Otherwise, the communication breaks down and the message sender can become irritated.

Put yourself as an empty glass. Be genuinely interested in what is being said. When you act like you know nothing, you will absorb so much important information. Listening is more valuable than speaking. By listening we can engage and develop as human beings. 

The key to living an amazing life doesn’t stop in these four lessons. Explore more. It’s going to take time, but that’s okay. At the end of the day, you will realize that happiness does not only occur in a movie.
